SHOULD WE INVEST IN TECHNOLOGY?

This blog is about an important element in our school, and that is our access to and use of technology.

At the BSA (British School of Alexandria) we are technologically well advanced. We have interactive whiteboards, over 40 computers, expensive editing programs, programming and teaching software (which greatly help with giving a better teaching experience). Also, we have a good range of electronic musical instruments like key boards and electronic guitars. Moreover, in the Music department we also have DJ and music making software to help us with our musical experience. In teaching, we have Google Classroom instead of homework notebooks, which is greener, yet sometimes more difficult to use.

But, here at the BSA, students are demanding even more improvements in technology from the student council. Those improvements include no notebooks, a working tablet for all students, better and more improved computers. Basically what we want is a paper-free school. That is a good, green idea, which would save money and trees over the long run, but would greatly affect the school budget.

So, in the end we have to think thoroughly, about how it would affect our school and its environment if we had all of these changes. True, it would make the school more technologically advanced and satisfy the students. But, it would cost lots of money, take time and the system could easily be ruined if not properly used. I will leave you with a question, what do YOU believe we should do, keep the current technology in our school, or try to improve it?
